Employers of safety-sensitive transportation employees play a vital role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of their employees and the public at large. Employers are responsible for developing and implementing successful a DOT Compliance Program relating to workplace drug and alcohol testing. A DOT Compliance Program must include clear policies, provisions for education, Clearinghouse checks, DOT Supervisor Training, drug and alcohol testing, and when needed, referral for evaluation and treatment.

A DOT Compliance Program for regulated employers must comply with 49 CFR Part 40 and applicable DOT Agency regulations. Find out if you are covered under the DOT program by going to: Am I Covered?

If you are considered a covered employer, you should know about the DOT Compliance Program for your particular regulatory agency, its regulations, guidelines, and supporting publications.

We provide the highest level of drug testing available today. Often referred to as “the gold standard method”, our drug testing follows the guidelines set forth by the federal government, giving you assurance that your company’s drug testing is being done fairly and accurately. Drug testing at this standard has withstood legal challenge and been upheld by various courts. Not conducting drug testing at this “gold standard” exposes your company to needless liability.

Companies supervising CDL drivers must have someone that has normal driver contact trained in reasonable suspicion.

49 CFR 382.603 is the applicable regulation requiring supervisors of commercial motor vehicle drivers who operate vehicles that require a commercial driver license to take 60 minutes of training on the symptoms of alcohol abuse and another 60 minutes of training on the symptoms of controlled substances use (120 minutes in total).  The purpose of this training is to teach supervisors to identify circumstances and indicators that may create reasonable suspicion that a driver is using or under the influence of alcohol or drugs, supporting referral of an employee for testing.

Transcom does this training online (cost $39.99.) At the completion of the training you will be sent a certificate of training which is good for life. Contact us for more information.
